South Carolina legal scion Alex Murdaugh orchestrated his own shooting in a botched assisted suicide scheme for his surviving son to collect a $10 million life insurance payment, investigators say. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed on Tuesday that an alleged accomplice in the scheme had been arrested, after Murdaugh admitted to attempting to kill himself with the help of a hitman. Curtis Edward Smith, 61, (pictured left) was arrested on charges of assisted suicide, assault and battery, pointing and presenting a firearm, insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. Smith is a former client of Murdaugh, who represented him in minor traffic matters as well as a 2015 lawsuit that Smith filed against a forest management company. Murdaugh's surviving son, 25-year-old Richard Alexander 'Buster' Murdaugh Jr (pictured right earlier this week), the sole surviving heir to his father's legal dynasty, was apparently supposed to receive the insurance payout from his father's death in the botched assisted suicide scheme alleged by investigators. The arrest comes as a stunning twist in the tale of the Murdaugh clan (pictured centre), which gained national attention following the fatal shooting of Murdaugh's wife, Maggie, and 22-year-old son, Paul at the family's hunting lodge on June 7 in a case that remains unsolved.

Trump accuses Gen Mark Milley of TREASON after Bob Woodward book claimed top military officer told Chinese counterpart he would warn him if US was planning to attack and limited 'unstable' president's ability to launch nukes
Former President Trump on Tuesday said?the United States' top military officer was guilty of treason if he went behind his back and promised to warn China of an impending attack. He was responding to bombshell revelations in a new book claiming that Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, twice called his Chinese counterpart last year over concerns that then President Trump was ready to go to war. 'If it is actually true - which is hard to believe that he would have called China, and done these things and was willing to advise them of an attack or in advance of an attack - that's treason,' said Trump during an interview with Sean Spicer on Newsmax TV.

Calm down comrades! AOC's brother slams 'leftist ranters' after the firebrand's supporters turned on her, calling her a hypocrite for going to $35,000-a-head Met Gala where she wore 'TAX THE RICH' dress
Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez's brother went after 'leftists ranters' who called out his sister and accused her of being a hypocrite after her 'TAX THE RICH' dress stunt at the?$35,000-a-head Met Gala last night. 'I think it's very interesting how many 'leftists' are saying 'how could she go somewhere so expensive?!' as if she paid for it herself or with public dollars. 'Meanwhile, y'all are the same heaux that cry out 'republicans always stick together, we need to copy that energy,' he wrote in a rant on his Instagram.
PIERS MORGAN: From the shameless hypocrisy of AOC and De Blasio to the calamitous red carpet fashion train-wrecks, this year's Met Gala finally jumped the shark and needs to be put out of its misery (on the other hand, Kim Kardashian never looked better!)
Where do I even start with this towering monument to hilarious hypocrisy and horrifically hideous 'haute couture'? Well, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (left) seems a good place for an opening salvo. The socialist Congresswoman has spent the past few years lecturing the entire world on the planet-ending evils of materialistic, vacuous, obscenely ostentatious capitalism. Yet here she was prancing about on the red carpet at the most materialistic, vacuous, obscenely ostentatious example of capitalism imaginable - surrounded by hundreds of the wealthiest and most privileged people in American society. Ocasio-Cortez believed it was her 'responsibility' to attend this ludicrously pointless celebration of totally unnecessary and often cringe-worthy extravagance. Unfortunately for her, the only conversation about the Met Gala today is what a flaming hypocrite she is. And so is New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (right, with wife Chirlane McCray and son Dante), who two years ago gave this explanation for why he never attended the Gala: 'It's an elite gathering, I'm not an elite guy. Let's make it real simple, it's just not my thing.' Yet there he was last night, hobnobbing with the very elite he professes to despise. What a fraud! Kim Kardashian (center), who was mercilessly mocked on social media for wearing what seemed to be a fusion of giant black trash bag and Taliban burka that covered every inch of her face and body. Ironically, she looked better than I've seen her for years. Which is more than can be said for some of the other fashion abominations on show, especially those making political points. This year, against the backdrop of a global pandemic that's exposed so much of celebrity culture as a pointlessly aggravating waste of space when millions of real people are dying from a killer virus, or losing their jobs, it seemed even more irrelevant than ever.
He's never shied away from a little adventure whether on screen or in real life. And Orlando Bloom proved to be fearless while paddleboarding in Malibu with a great white shark in an awe-inspiring video shared to Instagram on Tuesday. The 44-year-old actor was with a friend when Carlos Gauna captured a clip of a 'large juvenile white shark' circling in the water below.
